This project involved redesigning a promotional postcard for a yoga instructor looking to update his visual presence and attract new students.
Postcard for Yoga Teacher, Les Leventhal San Francisco, CA
The Challenge
The existing design relied on dated stylistic choices that didn’t reflect the quality or tone of his teaching.
Move away from an outdated aesthetic and establish a more current, professional look
Capture the duality of his teaching style—both grounded and light
Create a clear structure for information that felt intentional rather than cluttered
Maintain approachability while elevating the overall design
Approach
Having experienced his classes firsthand, I used that insight to inform the direction of the design.
Reduced saturation in the imagery to create a more neutral, grounded base
Introduced color through typography to add energy and emphasis
Used a mix of all caps and lowercase type to create rhythm and hierarchy
Structured the layout to mirror the flow and pacing of his classes
Focused on clarity and spacing to maintain a sense of lightness throughout
Outcome
The final postcard is clean, modern, and reflective of the instructor’s unique presence.
Replaces a dated design with a more refined and current visual identity
Balances boldness with a sense of openness and ease
Communicates information clearly while subtly reflecting the experience of his classes
